An Explanation Due to enabling people to redeem the coins before the exchange launch, the opportunity to put in really low sell orders happened and the result was a low starting price. Lower than what we had arranged. Due to the vesting schedules we have, and the internal view of the team and investors, our belief is that the actors who did this were either a) wanting to FUD the project or b) just looking to get any form of return, however low. The alternative would have been to not allow people to redeem their coins until after the exchange launch. We decided, based on the overwhelming sentiment in the community, that this would not have been a good idea. You wanted the coins early - we provided them. We wanted the launch price to be 30cents - others chose to create an opening sell order lower. What's Next? We've spent years building the only decentralized layer one blockchain and we believe this is just the start. We have a huge ambition to fundamentally enable freedom via decentralization and today's price movements do not impact that ambition in any way. If Minima was a short-term project where the team just wanted to 'cash-in' then we would have structured the launch in a way that only the team would benefit. Instead, we chose to give the people their coins before launch and let the market decide the price. That's you - whether you sell or buy. This isn't a momentary decision, it is something that is core to our values and, despite the sentiment now which may be that we've 'let people down' or 'gone against our word', we hope that some of you will see that the open market isn't something we control. What Can Be Done? Our advice now is to HODL. We aren't going anywhere. We aren't going to 'run off'. This is just the starting line for the project and for those who believe in real decentralization, the journey has just begun. What is Minima doing? We're working out options of using various mechanisms to add value and liquidity to keep the price momentum. It is in all our best interests to propel the value upwards and we are working extremely hard to enable this after this initial price activity. Your Opinion Matters For those who read the above and disregard it, we respect your view. Minima is about censorship-resistance, and we apply it to ourselves. Within the preferred approach of being respectful to each other in the community chat, you are welcome to your views. What we would ask, however, is to try and see the bigger picture here. We are hours in to a project we have multiple decades of scope within. Despite the feeling now that the opening prices didn't match your (or our) preference, we hope you stay with us for the journey.
